Review of Theatreworks concert - 5/21/2005
Chris Chiego

So last night I was invited to hear the new musical sensation from White Station, the Scandaliz Vandalistz perform. Though without Brock, evidently one of their key role-players and backup singers, the live performance was quite enjoyable. Katherine radiated energy during such classics as "Old English Sheepdog" and displayed her versatility with "Rodent Medley"'s oboe solo. Alice kept the beat going throughout and showcased her MC skills with the "Sophocles Rap". All the songs were well-written and the lyrics were witty and hilarious. They're definitely worth seeing live as the between-song banter was comedic and entertaining plus the impromptu dancing added another dimension to the overall effect. All in all an enjoyable event for the two-score persons in attendance and something I would advise the curious reader to see for him/herself. Also, I espied many members of the cast of "Hamlet: Something's Rotten on Aisle 9" at the performance and would like to make a note of encouraging anyone who hasn't seen it to definitely make an effort to; it's rare to find a film with so much spirit and charm. Just hearing the allusions to random events/lines from the play is reason enough to see it.
